Wedding Cheers for Brittany and Tory

tbrooney

Wedding season is in full swing friends. We have been graciously invited to nine weddings this year, all squeezed into five months. I just love watching our friends promise to love each other until the end of time. And the party that comes shortly after I do is pretty swell too.

A couple of weekends ago we attended a beautiful celebration on the tip of Manhattan, with gorgeous views of Lady Liberty. Adam and I hustled out the door and mistakenly left our heartfelt congratulations behind, oops! It was the perfect excuse to see the newlyweds when they returned from their honeymoon. Hand delivered mail is even better than sending it through the post, no? [Read more…]

Very belated Birthday wishes for Andrea

polka dot birthday card

I love birthdays. The cake and ice cream, the party hats, the presents. I get a ridiculous amount of joy out of shopping for other people, most especially my family and friends. Christmas really is the most wonderful time of year for me (did I mention I also love to wrap?!).

But every now and again, a birthday trips me up. I’ll have a super-fashionable and thoughtful friend to buy for and I’ll get totally stumped. As such was the case with Andrea. She celebrated her birthday in January—it took me nearly five months to deliver on the birthday wishes. I only take partial responsibility for the delay though. She’s on the hook for being so notoriously hard to shop for! But I always say, better late than never! [Read more…]

A welcome-back letter

molly

I just love getting mail, real mail. In today’s sea of bills and catalogs, a card is a rare treasure.

I’m especially fond of the ‘change of address’ card (what can I say, I’m a sucker for tradition). It’s rare in a city like New York where people change addresses with the seasons. So when one came across my post, I felt compelled to send a reply (I was wooed by Phyllis Theroux’s words, what can I say?).

How do you let friends and family know of your new address?

A letter to the bride on her wedding day

claire1

Ah, let’s pick up where we left off, shall we?

As promised, I’m posting the letter I wrote to Claire on her wedding day. And because I hurriedly penned this pre-wedding (in the car no less), there is no photographic evidence of my correspondence. Instead, I give you the beautiful bride (and a link). The note is peppered with references spanning our thirteen year friendship. I maintain the real goodness of any letter its the stuff that comes straight from the heart.

Courtney + Barrett are getting married

Wedding season is in full swing for us! We have a wedding a month between now and the start of 2014 (including our own). And the engagments keep coming too–I just love reasons to celebrate our friends!  A few weekends ago we attended a gorgeous brunch on the rooftop of the Nomad Hotel in honor of our friends. The setting lovely, the weather just-right, and the couple as sweet as can be.

Birthday wishes for Kristin

kristinb1

Kristin is one of my oldest and dearest friends. We’ve known each other since childhood, so there are only about, I don’t know, a million memories between us. And although we live in different cities and don’t get to see one another often enough, we always pick up right where we left off. It’s rare to have friends for decades. I know how lucky I am. Happy Birthday bonded bud.

a real thank you for the girls

bfty1

My sweet friends wanted to celebrate my upcoming wedding with a little bachelorette soiree. I am exceptionally bad at being the center of attention so I tried to talk them out of it. We compromised with a “beach” weekend in Ft. Lauderdale, and boy am I glad we did. I feel so blessed to have such wonderful women in life for sixteen plus years and counting. There were delicious dinners, a splendid Saturday on the water, and a lot of adult beverages in between. I needed to thank them for planning such a special weekend, so I turned to Rifle Paper Co. and my long time makeup-obsession, They’re Real.
